This is a scene I created using Maya 2017 that served as both a passion project and a great learning experience. This taught me many of the core modeling and rendering concepts I now know today, and further provided a passion for the 3D modeling direction of game design. Some of the most important techniques learned and built upon from this experience include camera sequence rendering, light usage, texturing, animation, object effects, and UV mapping.
This game ready space level puts you in the center of a space station command room. It has an animated control console, planet projector that spins, as well as a view of planet Earth in the distance that glows and spins slightly.
The planets and sun spin around their center point; the planets spin around the sun and the planets spin around each of their own center points, similar to our actual solar system.
